Who are we?

Alpha Phi Omega is a co-ed national service fraternity founded on the principles of leadership, friendship and service. The first chapter, the Alpha Chapter, was chartered by Frank Reed Horton on December 16, 1925 at Lafayette College  in Easton, Pennsylvania. Alpha Phi Omega provides service to our fraternity, campus, community and country, Alpha Phi Omega is also an international fraternity, having chapters not only here in the United States, but also in Canada, Australia, and the Philippines. There are over 400,000 brothers in over 375 chapters, making us the largest fraternity in the world. In 1974, females were able to become affiliate members. Finally in 1976, females were able to become active brothers of Alpha Phi Omega.

Recharted

Originally chartered in 1990, Alpha Phi Omega was new to the New Paltz campus. However, in 2007 the Alpha Gamma Delta chapter became inactive due to disinterest. In 2014, Alana Malloy, a SUNY New Paltz student, began the petitioning process to reactivate the Alpha Gamma Delta chapter. After two years of petitioning, the Alpha Gamma Delta chapter of Alpha Phi Omega was rechartered on the SUNY New Paltz campus on November 25th, 2015. In Spring 2016, the chapter welcomed 14 new Alpha class brothers, and in Fall 2016, the chapter welcomed 14 new Beta Class brothers.
